Marcia Ann Rogers, “Marcy”, age 76, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on October 30, 2022 at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, CO. She was born September 16, 1946 in McKeesport, PA to Thomas H. and Angeline Johnston. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents Angeline and Thomas H. Johnston, her sister Rosalie Johnston, and her ex-husband, Michael Rogers Sr. Marcy is survived by her son Michael Rogers Jr., her daughter-in-law Karla; her grandsons Gavin and Caden, her brother Tom, her sister Angel and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Being of a military family, Marcy grew up in different locations but her most memorable was Albuquerque, NM where her love of the Southwest started. She graduated from North Kingstown Senior High School in Rhode Island in 1964. After graduation she moved to Maryland where she married Michael Rogers on November 15, 1969 and had Michael Jr. in 1971. She and Michael Sr. divorced and she never remarried. Michael Sr. passed away shortly after returning from Vietnam. Marcy raised her only son as a single parent with loving support of her family. She was a force and determined to provide for herself and her son, many times was working two jobs. Marcy began a career as a Federal employee with the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. and then shifted to the Department of the Interior which took her to Lakewood, CO. Marcy completed 40 years of Federal civilian service.
Strengthening family and friend relationships was Marcy’s super power. She loved making others feel special and showed her love through traditions, food, and “showing-up” even if it was just for a hug. Snuggling her cats, playing trivial pursuit and reading books brought her joy…especially anything written by Stephen King. Her absolute passion in life was her two grandsons, Gavin and Caden Rogers. She would love on them with her full heart and spirit every chance she could get; spoiling them like only their “Nuni” could do.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service at Olinger Chapel Hill at 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121 on November 9, 2022 from 3pm to 6pm.
