She spent two years studying Engineering at Hays College in her early days, and married on June 22nd, 1945 to the late Jasper Hales. She met Jasper at a USO dance. She spent her time as Secretary for many businesses in her life including Washington Park United Methodist Church and as Receptionist for the Interfaith Center at the newly formed Auraria Campus. Home moved throughout her lifetime of memories from Osborne, Kansas to McComb, Mississippi to Thornton, Colorado, and finally Denver. She resided in Denver for 60 years.
Lois was avid about her needlework, sewing skills, quilting, knitting, and puzzles of course! Caring hearts as loving as her own are hard to come by. She always had the door open for family and friends, and was a second mother to nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren have special memories when visiting of the smell of baking bread, oatmeal waffles and Christmas cookies, and those recipes continue to be used and shared. Lois started the beloved family tradition of Snow on the Mountain for Christmas gatherings, and that tradition continues. Lois moved her mother, Pearl Storer to Denver to care for her in Pearl’s last years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jasper Hales, parents Charles & Pearl Storer, and siblings Charles Storer, Eleanor Hales, Margaret Cornely, Betty McMichael, and William Storer.
