It is with extreme sadness that the family of Larry Dean Aurich announce his peaceful passing on February 13, 2022, at the age of 75. He was welcomed into heaven by his granddaughter, Emersyn Ray Aurich, his father, Raymond Aurich, mother, Hilda Aurich, niece, Dana (Oleson) Beck, and daughter, Deborah Ann Aurich. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Annette Aurich; children: Christine (Aurich) Murphy (husband, Robert Murphy), Brian Aurich (wife, Stacy Aurich), and Robert Aurich (wife, Dana Aurich); grandchildren: Erin Murphy, Morgan Aurich, Dylan Aurich, Ryan Murphy, Payton Aurich, Noah Aurich, Regan Aurich, Tate Aurich, Jay Aurich, Evelyn Aurich; step grandson: Austin Trout; sister, Norma (Aurich) Oleson (husband, Al Oleson), twin brother Terry Aurich, and brother Arlie Aurich (wife, Heidi Aurich) as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Larry was born on August 15, 1946 in Sidney, Nebraska following 7 minutes behind his twin brother, Terry. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in May 1956. Larry graduated from South High School in 1964 where he ran both track and cross-country. Larry married his high school sweetheart, Barb in 1966. Larry began his career as a clerk with the United States Postal Service in December 1971 and retired in January 2002. A few years after retirement from the USPS Larry just couldn’t sit still and began working as a courtesy clerk at his neighborhood King Soopers. Attending church and serving others was an important part of Larry’s life. He made a point of attending nearly every extra-curricular activity that his 12 grandchildren were a part of. Larry was rarely ever seen without a smile on his face. He believed he was not only called to be a Christian but called to serve like Christ.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at West Bowles Community Church located at 12325 W. Bowles Ave. Littleton, CO 80127. A reception will follow the service at the church. For those who will be attending the memorial service the family asks that you either wear Larry’s favorite color, Nebraska Cornhusker Red or western attire. He will be laid to rest at a later date in a private service held at Seven Stones in Littleton, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to help fund The Emersyn Project & Loeys Dietz Research. A mission to honor the memory of Larry’s granddaughter, Emersyn Ray Aurich and launching an initiative to understand - and beat - the severe end of the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome spectrum.
