Kathryn was a 27-year U.S. Navy veteran. After retiring in San Diego and working in the private sector, she moved to Casper, Wyoming to be the State Administrative Officer for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service until 2012, when a botched surgery left her paralyzed.
After earning her Master of Arts in Leadership from Bellevue University she also began teaching for Bellevue in the MA Leadership and BS Criminal Justice programs, then BS Business program. She also taught criminal justice and security classes for DeVry University and University of Phoenix. She continued to teach even after being paralyzed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Francis Fenner, and her parents, John Wallace Branson of Houston and Dr. Dorothy Jean Swingle Branson of Kansas City. She leaves behind her stepdaughter, Lindsey Fenner (and Brian Phillips) of Denver; her brother John Branson of Las Vegas, Nevada, her sisters Linda Sonnenmoser (and Steve Sonnenmoser) of Centennial, Colorado, and CarolAnn Peck of Lancaster, Ohio; her stepmother Jeanie Branson and her two half-brothers James Branson and Jerry Branson (and Jun), of Raleigh, North Carolina; a nephew and three nieces and their children; friends and teaching associates; and of course the adored mutts, Monstie and Twitchell and Lucy, and kitties, Tink, The Nipper, Annie, Pooh-Kitty, and Buttercup. What about Harold the one-fisted squirrel?
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, December 4th, 2015 with services to follow at 10:00 am at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Centennial, Colorado. Inurnment will be held in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
