Judy Carol Stevenson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She left this world on August 22nd, 2023, at the age of 80 after advanced stages of dementia. She remained an avid reader, still pushing herself to read and work on puzzles and word searches throughout her memory loss.
Judy was born in Whitman, Nebraska on June 8th, 1943, to Joseph and Etta Bump. After she finished 8th grade, her family would relocate to Lead, South Dakota. She graduated from Lead High School with excellent grades at the young age of 17.
A young, courageous woman, she would relocate to the big city of Denver, CO almost immediately after graduation, take her first administrative office job, and meet her soon-to-be husband, Gary, on a blind date. Judy and Gary would marry on September 27th, 1963, in Littleton Colorado. Together they had two children, Sherri and Brad, and shared 59 years together as a married couple.
Judy was both a devoted wife and mother, and also committed to working full-time as an administrative professional and supervisor. She loved singing, reading, traveling, and would often spend hours on arts and crafts. Judy meticulously captured her family history by scrapbooking many important life moments. In her later years, she enjoyed reminiscing those good times by sharing her memory books with all those that crossed her path. Judy stood out as a class act. She balanced the role of wife and mother and held a career throughout her lifetime. She made it look easy and always left the house in her heels with her hair and makeup done just so. In her retirement years, she kept up her fashionista ways and stayed current with all the popular trends and could easily blend in with the younger crowd.
Judy retired from her job with Arapahoe County in 2002 where she treasured spending time with her many co-worker friends. Judy joined her husband Gary in retirement, and they were able to cross off a bucket list item and enjoyed an Alaskan cruise together with their lifelong friends Bob and Mary Stevenson. She and her husband Gary raised their family in Littleton, CO and moved to their dream-home in the Roxborough area in February of 2000. Throughout their retirement, they enjoyed beautiful views, Colorado sunsets, and long walks and hikes around their home.
Judy could be found watching Sunday afternoon football games with Gary and they would root for their beloved Broncos. They also found time to stay current with the national news and current politics and were always up for a lively debate of what was going on in the world today.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gary Stevenson, her children, Sherri (Darryl) Motsenbocker, and Brad (Sanee) Stevenson, her brothers, Alan (Al) Bump, Ronald (Ron) Bump, Donald (Don) Bump, Joseph (Joe) Bump, Gary Lee Bump, her sister, Renee Bump, her grandchildren, Tyson Motesenbocker, Dakota Motsenbocker, Sydney Motesenbocker, Cole Motsenbocker, Emitt Stevenson, and Emelia Stevenson, and one great grandchild, Olivia Motsenbocker. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Hayword Bump, her mother, Etta Elizabeth Bump, and her sister, Donna McConnell.
