His life was filled with adventure, hard work, and a zest for living. Born on November 5, 1944, in Englewood, Colorado, John’s journey led him to become a successful entrepreneur, running multiple businesses until his early retirement.
John’s vibrant personality left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Words like “funny,” “entertaining,” and “host with the most” come to mind when remembering him. He wore many hats—son, Uncle John, CEO, Dad, and Papa—all reflecting the different roles he played in the lives of his loved ones.
In 1963, John married Donna, and together they had two children. After their divorce, fate intervened when he met Linda at a restaurant and bar. Their dance that night marked the beginning of a nearly 52-year journey together. They officially married in November 1977 and welcomed their son in August 1979.
John and Linda not only shared their lives but also worked side by side. Their joint venture included owning Barton’s South Side Feed on South Broadway. Beyond work, John pursued a multitude of hobbies alongside Linda. He was a race car builder, driver, and owner, racing his Chevy race car #65 at Englewood Speedway. His love for speed extended to other activities, including horseback hunting, fishing, photography, scuba diving, piloting airplanes, boating, and golfing.
Retirement allowed John and Linda to continue their adventures, creating cherished memories together. Their bond was truly a blessing, providing them with precious time to explore life’s wonders.
