Born to Daniel and Frances Michanek on August 8th, 1929 in St Joseph, MO, JoAnn was known for her gregarious personality, hearty laugh and love of clothing. She became a primary school teacher and moved to Denver, CO in 1956 immediately after returning from a multi-month trip to Hawaii, which she would later recall as her life's great adventure. JoAnn married Seymour R. “Rod” Snyder in 1962 and the family settled in Englewood when it was still mainly ranchland. Following Rod’s untimely death in 1978, she became a single-parent to their three children, of whom she was very proud. JoAnn stayed in the family home until 2006 before moving to Holly Creek. JoAnn was quick-witted and equally quick to laugh. She loved talking to anyone and everyone at any time, welcoming one and all with open arms; her energy and friendly demeanor will be missed by all who knew her.
JoAnn is survived by her son Richard “Rick” Snyder, her daughters Lori (J. Brian Mahoney) Snyder and Kathleen “Kaci” Snyder and her niece, Linnie Hensley.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband, Rod and her sister, Margie Hensley.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Holly Creek CLC, 5500 E Peakview Ave, Centennial, CO 80121.
The family thanks the caregivers and staff at The Suites at Holly Creek for helping to fill JoAnn’s days with warmth and compassion.
