Jerry Tilton Poston 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 8, 2014. Born on December 6, 1939 in Sanger, CA to Elenor and Ray Poston, brother to Jim Poston (deceased). Beloved husband of Donna Poston for 39 years. He was an amazing father to Lance, Art, JoAnne, and Dan. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Jordan, Joshua, Dillon, Brianna, Nicholas, Tristen, and Annie who knew him as their most loved Pap. Uncle to Sean Poston, Nephew of Barbara Craven and Lavon Brogan and many cousins that reside in California. Jerry leaves many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless numbers of friends. He also leaves his faithful and loving dog, Lola whom he loved so very much.
Jerry joined the civil engineering and planning firm of Raub, Bein and Frost early in 1973. Jerry was responsible for processing development plans in coordination with Orange County, California agencies mainly for Mission Viejo Company during that period. Jerry’s responsibilities grew as Mission Viejo Company expanded its projects until 1978 when Mission Viejo Company purchased Highlands Ranch and Jerry was transferred to Colorado as an important part of the team who prepared and processed the initial development plan for Highlands Ranch. Over the next 30 plus years Jerry continued to expand his responsibilities to include all plan preparation including site design, architecture and processing for the Highlands Ranch community, now home to approximately 125,000 residents. Upon Jerry’s retirement, he was honored by having “Poston Parkway”, a beautiful residential street in the southeast part of Highlands Ranch named after him.
Jerry was a dedicated family man and friend. He lived his life to the fullest. His love of travel and his generosity has enriched the lives of his family and children with adventures that few people ever have the fortune to experience.
