Our beloved Father and Grandfather, James (Jim) Findlay departed peacefully, Oct 16, 2014 at Denver Hospice. Jim lived a long, productive and admirable life. Born in Barclay, Ontario Canada June 13, 1924, he spent his formative years in Dryden, Ontario until meeting and marrying his wife Dorothy (Dottie) E. (Peeler) Findlay, in Winnipeg Manitoba, 1948. They had their eldest son, James (Rennie) Findlay, prior to moving to Denver Colorado, in 1953. Jim provided for his young family as a truck driver. He and Dottie worked hard and sacrificed in their early years together, ultimately becoming owner-operators of four motels in the Denver Metro area. They labored together in business and as partners in life. During his retirement years Jim and Dottie traveled, with Heidi, their much-loved Dachshund, visiting family and friends throughout the United States and Canada in their motor home. While travelling, Jim took every opportunity to tinker with anything motorized or to leave something better than he found it. As snowbirds, they spent their last 14 winters together in Yuma, AZ, until Dorothy passed in June of 2012. They enjoyed many hours of dominos, card games and time with an eclectic group of cherished friends. They enjoyed the spring and the summer months in their Littleton, CO home, close to their children and grandchildren. Jim loved to watch old Westerns, though he was not one to sit idle, he took great satisfaction in repairing what was broken or building something of use. His love of trucks, finely tuned automobiles and the open road started early in life and never left him. His passing has left a void of strength, independence and old-school toughness much admired by his family. Jim leaves behind, his children Floyd and
Barbara and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his adored wife Dorothy of 63 years and his son J. Rennie Findlay.
