Jacqueline Elizabeth Holwell was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 9th, 1920 and passed from this life on October 7th 2011. Jackie was the oldest of four children, with two sisters and a brother that made up the family of Jack B. Bass. She grew up and went through school in Muskogee, but decided to expand her opportunities, and followed a few of her friends to Washington, D.C. after qualifying for Civil Service employment. In 1941 she became a manager’s assistant in the Artillery Division of the Army in the War Department and became part of the civilian army that was moving into our nation’s capital. In the same office she met a young Second Lieutenant, and after being courted for six months married Robert (Bob) Holwell in April of 1942. Her life as an Army wife lasted until early 1946 when after Bob‘s discharge, and with one baby girl, (Marilyn Slayton), moved to Denver. Bob’s career with the Gates Rubber Company that began in Denver continued as they moved to Salt Lake City and Brantford, Ontario, Canada before moving back to Denver and after bringing into the world one boy (Michael Holwell), and two girls(Janet McCabe and April Black). Another boy (Galen Holwell) joined the family in 1958 in Denver. Jackie’s open heart and friendly smile continued attract the many friends and associates that have been a part or our family’s social life. As Bob’s career advanced in the executive ranks at Gates, so did her responsibilities, as a wife and hostess, for the many social and business affairs that became part of their life. Our move to the senior living accommodations at Vi (formerly Hyatt) at Highlands Ranch became an opportunity for Jackie to appreciate the many fine people that live there. She offered herself to all in love and friendship, and treasured her devoted and caring family. Jackie is survived by her husband, the family of children mentioned above, her sister, Joan Hogan and brother, J. B. Bass both of Muskogee.
