How do you write an obituary for one of the best mothers one could ever hope for?
You start with the facts:
Hazel Winifred Ferguson (Freddie), maiden name Binks
Born: February 15, 1918
Passed: September 20, 2021
4 children, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren
Then you get to the personal stuff:
Freddie was the wife of John A. Ferguson, long time Englewood educator. She was a strong woman, having survived the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, two World Wars and the Covid pandemic. She worked twice as hard as anyone else in the family, but never complained about anything. Our mother, along with our father, provided a loving and protective home which resulted in four well-adjusted, responsible and successful children. She was a kind and quite person; everyone who knew her lover her sweet demeanor. We, her family, got to love Freddie for so many remarkable years, through good and hard times. She was always taking care of and worrying about us all, even as we ourselves aged. Our sadness at losing her cannot be adequately expressed.
Survived by John Kim Ferguson (wife Jane), Elizabeth Dee Jones (husband Leonard), Jan Ferguson Peto (husband Bob), Geoffrey Alan Ferguson (wife Donna) and many treasured grandchildren, greats and great-greats.
