Bud was a singer, knowing the words to hundreds of songs. He also blew a "voice trumpet," even once doing so from backstage because the musicians hadn't arrived yet at a concert.
He worked at the Hanford Atomic Works at Richland, Washington
He was a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Colorado and was a Design Engineer for Adolph Coors Company in Golden. He joined Coors in 1964 and worked on can-line installations, malthouse process piping, beer filtering, grain handling, and head-house grain and malt cleaning improvements.
At Coors, Bud was president of the Toastmasters and president of the Twilite Golf League. He served as chairman of the Golden Terrace Recreations Activities Committee.
Bud also worked at the Gates Rubber Company later in life.
Bud passed away on November 14, 2015. He leaves a widow, Norma B. Oakes, a son, Richard B. Oakes, a daughter, Sharon L. Dellinger, a granddaughter, Pamela R. Goff, a grandson, Tony Dean, and a step-granddaughter, Candace Vassalluzzo.
