Gerry was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Geraldine and Gerard Sullivan. Brother to 9 siblings, husband to Chris, father to Amy, grandfather to Ben and Kate.
He was a family man who lived for his wife and daughter. Even after his wife’s passing, he cherished the memories of their amazing adventures around the world, together. He joyfully recalled his and Chris’s courtship, their decades as husband and wife, father and mother, doting grandparents.
He was a natural leader who expected great things of both himself and others. Fiercely loyal and passionate. Often generous with both his money and his time. He was a scholar, historian, and a genealogist. He loved books, trains, the Civil War, Notre Dame football, the Dodgers, and Winston Churchill (with whom he shared a shocking resemblance).
Gerry was a salesman, a businessman, a gentleman. He was proud of what he had accomplished, but even more proud of the accomplishments of his family, friends and loved ones and he loved to boast of their successes to anybody who would listen.
Gerry was a great storyteller. His life and his experiences were his pallet and paints. His voice, his wit, and his humor were his paintbrushes and canvas. His stories were his artwork and his gift. And any gathering was an opportunity for him to dazzle us with his artistry.
His was a life lived well, and fully, and now his story will continue to live on in his family and through all of the lives he touched.
