Gerald Weaver, born on May 14, 1943, in Galesburg, Illinois, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Christ on September 26, 2024. A devoted Christian, Gerald lived a life filled with faith, love, generosity, and community, exemplifying the fruit of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). In his final weeks, he was surrounded by those he cherished most, savoring every precious moment together.
Gerald is survived by his six children:
•Stacey Weaver Peoples (husband Jeffrey) and their children, Joseph Norman (32), Bailey Way (27, husband Bailey Queen), Kathryn Lynn (25, husband Joshua Rumann), and Charles Gerald (14)
•Geoffery Norman Weaver and his daughters, Shelby Elin (16) and Hannah Marina (16)
•Tamara Michele Harris (husband Randall) and their children, Jackson Marshall (16) and Anabelle Michele (12)
•Christopher Gerald Weaver (wife Megan) and their daughters, Taylor Grace (12) and Hailey Victoria (9)
•Shannon Diane Mesta (husband Tyler) and their children, Asher Matthew (6), Sadie Grace (3), and Camden Elijah (2 months)
•Cassandra Dawn Bisson (husband Carter) and their children, Ashlynn Lee (7) and Emma Jo (4)
He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Rutledge (husband Eric); niece Lindsay; nephew Brad (wife Anya) and their children, Alex, Lucy, and Fenix; niece Jill Woodward (husband Dave) and their children, Henry and Lillian; niece Sharon Klumpenhower (husband Mark) and their daughter, Rebecca; and nephew Scott McDonald (wife Gretchen). Dean Weaver’s wife, Donna, and Ann McDonald’s husband, Thad, also survive him. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel (Lauerman) and Norman Weaver; his sister, Ann McDonald; and his brother, Dean Weaver.
A graduate of Denver University Law School, Gerald established his own firm and practiced law for over 50 years with dedication, integrity, and a keen sense for business. Alongside his legal career, he developed a passion for real estate, successfully owning and managing over 23 properties. A shrewd and brilliant businessman, Gerald combined his legal expertise with compassion, going above and beyond to support families in need. Whether providing housing or offering hope, he made it his mission to help others find a place to call home, embodying both business acumen and a generous heart.
He served on the Cherry Creek School District School Board for 11 years, exemplifying his commitment to education and community. A proud Mason who achieved the 32nd degree, Gerald was deeply involved in giving back, serving on numerous community boards for neighborhoods, churches, and various organizations.
An adventurous spirit, Gerald enjoyed activities like boating, water skiing — even barefoot skiing on the Mississippi River — and snow skiing in Winter Park. He loved swimming in Crystal Lake, Michigan, and was known for his daily walks. As a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos, Gerald cherished time spent at games with his children, creating treasured memories. A lover of travel, Gerald shared countless cruises and adventures with his family. His passion for Chrysler/Dodge cars, breeding teacup poodles, and indulging in ice cream were just a few of the many unique aspects of his vibrant life.
Above all, Gerald’s faith in Christ was the foundation of his life. He was deeply involved in church services, Bible studies, and community fellowship, living out his beliefs through actions and words alike. His devotion to his faith radiated through his compassion, generosity, and the support he provided to others. Gerald’s spiritual strength served as a guiding light, encouraging those around him to pursue truth, love, and kindness. His unwavering commitment to Christ left a lasting impression on all who knew him, fostering a legacy of grace and inspiration.
Gerald’s love for his children and grandchildren was the essence of his life. Every moment was dedicated to their happiness and well-being, as he continually supported, guided, and cherished each one of them. His presence was a source of strength and comfort, providing unwavering encouragement through life’s challenges and celebrations. Gerald’s boundless affection and devotion created a strong family bond, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
