Frank was born on July 23, 1957, to Thanasi and Sofia Kapuranis in Roswell, New Mexico where he was raised with his two younger sisters Mary and Carol. Frank touched many hearts throughout his life and in his community. He was a driven individual who always looked to work and help others. One of his first jobs, as a young teenager, was driving a delivery truck for a local bakery, early in the morning, to deliver pastries to local vendors. After a long day’s work of delivering pastries; he always made sure to save some to share with his friends and family. Throughout his life, bread and baked goods were one of his favorite guilty pleasures. Frank also spent time working in the family restaurant, the Capitol Cafe.
Upon graduating high school, Frank and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended the University of New Mexico and obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. During his college years he strengthened his friendships with many lovely members of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, and married his love of his life, Matia Kapuranis. Following his college years, Frank and Matia moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for Amoco Corporation as a petroleum engineer. Frank took great pride in his work at Amoco as he traveled to many oil and gas well sites in the Western region. He would often share stories with his children about his job and shared some of those experiences with his family. His hard work ethic was absorbed by his children as they watched their father provide a great upbringing and future. Upon retiring from Amoco, Frank continued to work in the real estate industry where he managed a portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
Frank was a loving husband, father, pappou and brother. He enjoyed taking care of his five beautiful grandchildren, making them laugh and always gifting them with chocolates and sweets. He also loved spending time in the mountains, fishing lakes and streams, and playing golf with his sons and daughter. Frank would religiously follow the PGA tour and enjoyed expanding his knowledge by watching the Science, Smithsonian, and History channels.
Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years; Matia Kapuranis, his sons; Peter (Nicole) Kapuranis , Thanasi (Lauren) Kapuranis , his daughter; Demetra (Panayiotis) Papadimitropoulos; his five Grandchildren, Soula, Sebastian, Loukas, Andoni, and Dafni Kapuranis; his two sisters, Mary (Michael) Mantas and Carol (Kenneth) Crumbley, and several nieces and nephews.
