Elaine was born on November 12, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Elaine attended high school at The Punahou School in Honolulu.
At the age of 18 Elaine moved to Greeley, CO to attend the Colorado State Teachers College. It was there she met the love of her life, John A. Nowlen. After one year of dating, they were married in Denver, CO at St. Francis De Sales Church on September 9, 1955. Elaine and John made their home and raised their family in the Denver area. They formed many lifelong friendships with her neighbors. They owned and operated a family business with their dear friends Bev and Chuck Seamans.
Known to her grandchildren as Tutu; Elaine's heart was never far from her Hawaiian roots. In retirement, Elaine enjoyed splitting her time with John between their Colorado home and their home on Oahu, on Kailua Bay.
Elaine will be remembered for her charisma, her quick wit, her sharp sense of humor, and her contagious smile; all of which were on display behind the counter of her home or at the family business, where she loved to greet and talk to people. With Elaine, strangers were made to feel like friends, and friends were made to feel like family.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Virginia Harrison.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 57 years, John A. Nowlen; her brother Richard Harrison; her children; Michael Nowlen, Julie Huston, Mark Nowlen, Matthew Nowlen; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
