Doug Johnstone, a beloved father, husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away on January 28, 2024 at the young age of 38. He was raised in Petaluma, California and had been a resident of Colorado for the last 14 years. Doug was born on May 20, 1985 in Marin County, California and relocated to Colorado in 2010. He held several positions climbing the ladder at the Denver International Airport with his most recent role being a Transportation Security Manager - Security Operations.
Anyone who knows Doug could see he was full of life and energy, he was unstoppable, he had the greatest sense of humor, and most of all is unforgettable. He was a dedicated provider for his family and gave them a life of love, fun, and stability. Doug was the ultimate family-man. There was nothing in the world that meant more to him than his family. Doug was very fond of a good dad-brag moment…he truly could not be prouder of his amazing kids. You could often find him in the kitchen cooking up a mean homemade meal like his tacos, gnocchi, ribs, or pesto, just to name a few. But more often than not, you could find him spending quality time with his little family. It was taking art tutorials from Gavin and working on Gavin’s new golf swing. Or it was coaching Tyler in baseball, practicing soccer, or teaching him some dominant football moves. And it was being the best girl-dad out there by dancing and having tea parties with his baby girl, Dylan. He was always giving his unconditional love and affection to his wife, Meghan. And to all of those who were lucky enough to have him in their life, you would find him giving his undying love and friendship, a listening ear, amazing dance moves, a big hug, and classic Doug faces, but most of all his gift to make everyone laugh and smile while in his presence.
Doug is survived by his wife, Meghan, and their 3 children Gavin James (10), Tyler Don (7), and Dylan Jane (4); his parents Kim and Cheryl; sister Heather with Fiancé Scott; brother Gary; sister Heidi with daughter Iris; and his recently passed brother, James.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Doug’s honor to JDRF to continue the research and fight against Type I Diabetes.
A memorial service for Douglas will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, followed by a reception from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
