Donald James Wilczynski, age 86, passed away on October, 20, 2017 surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose (Biniakiewicz) and Stephen Wilczynski; and grandson, Jonathan Curtis. Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorna (Lefevre) Wilczynski; son, Steve (Diane) Wilczynski; daughters, Lisa Kirsch and Lynn (Chug) Hubert; brother, Gene (Mary) Williams; sister, Roberta Wilczynski; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
Don graduated from Devilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1949. He attended the University of Toledo where he played football. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Always charming and with a quick wit, sales came naturally for Don selling everything from jeans to soup.
He was the proud owner of BOSS in Plano (Books, Office, School Supplies) Plano’s first Barnes and Noble-type store. Always ready for a new challenge he flipped houses and then his dabbling became serious when he became a broker for Century 21 in Richardson, Texas. He settled into that role with his team for 10 years and retired in 2002. After retirement he stayed with his passion for real estate and served on the Dallas Appraisal Review Board. He and Lorna moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado in 2013 where he volunteered as a docent for the Highlands Ranch mansion. In his leisure time Don enjoyed reading, long walks on the beach at his Galveston family home, and playing golf, tennis and chess.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A Committal Service will take place at 11:00 am in the cemetery, with a Celebration of Life Reception to follow at the home of Lynn and Chug Hubert, 1759 Spring Water Ln, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.
In lieu of flowers, Don wanted everyone to have a drink and call an old friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.
