

Obituary
Darrell Milton Chapman was born on June 7, 1915 in Durango, Colorado. To his parents, Milton and Mary Iris Chapman.
To these parents were born 10 children. Three (3) Girls Enola, Cynthia, and Elsie; and seven (7) boys, Ezra, Pat, Verner, Cecil, Darrell, Roy, and Wesley. Darrell was the fifth child and the fourth son.
He is survived by his brother, Wesley Chapman, in Salem, Oregon and sister, Elsie Southerland, in Silt, Colorado.
Darrell’s favorite scripture was: Philippians 1-21: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Darrell’s life was full of love and total dedication for Jesus and the Bible…there was no place too small or too large to serve in the work of the Lord. He fought a good fight and kept the faith as the Apostle Paul said and did.
He was a man of strength, warmth, love, vision, caring and compassion. He had a shepherd's heart to feed the needy and support the flock.
He had a love for the Bible and read it through every year.
He was a graduate of the class of 1933 of Rifle, Colorado High School.
He graduated from Southwestern Bible School in Enid, Oklahoma in 1940.
He was ordained to the ministry with The Assembly of God in 1942.
He was married to Jewell Southard on August 24, 1944. To this union was born 3 children: Janice, Thomas and Charles. He has 6 grandchildren: Dan Sullivan, Carrie Frey, Ryan Chapman, Chris Chapman, Alisha Chapman, Crystal Chapman and 3 great grandchildren: Taylor Sullivan, Sullivan Frey, and Jessica Frey.
After graduating from Southwestern Bible School his first Church was in Red Cliff, Colorado. He also Pastored in Alamosa, Colorado.
After being the minister at the Red Cliff and Alamosa churches he was a traveling evangelist. While holding a revival in Fort Morgan, Colorado….he met Jewell and they fell in love and were married on August 24,1944.

A Neighborhood church in Englewood, Colorado
Darrell and Jewell loved to sing and play music. He played the banjo, guitar, and mandolin, and she played the piano and accordion.
Darrell was also a teacher and taught many certified Bible Courses to his congregation and others; he also served as a Presbyter for the Rocky Mountain Area Assembly of God, and on Camp Meeting Committees.
He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle to his family.
