After graduating from Denver West High School in 1957, Charlotte began a career working for the US Postal Service. She began as a mail sorter, then a clerk. She was honored as Denver’s Miss Zip- a postal ambassador when zip codes were introduced. Later she worked in the Denver Post Master’s office as Supervisor of Complaints. Her next career step was as Post Master-first at the downtown Denver May D and F office, then in Empire Colorado, and finally in Central City Colorado.
Charlotte retired from the post office in 1996. Soon she began a second career at the Colorado Rockies baseball team. Charlotte worked in guest relations taking tickets at Gate C and helping outside the Rockies’ locker room. She met players and their families and developed special relationships with many. Hall of Famer Todd Helton mentioned Charlotte at his retirement press conference, stating that one of the things he’d miss most would be saying good night to Charlotte as he exited after games. Charlotte worked for the Rockies until her passing.
Charlotte is survived by 2 children- Debora Lynn Johnsen of California and Randall Edan Johnson of Thailand, a grandson Zach Rothrock of California, and 1 great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Regina Johnson of Dumont Colorado, granddaughter Summer Eitel Of California, and a great-grandson.
