It is hard to say good-bye and hard to find comfort in words alone.  We will all miss Dad very much!  He was so kind and also so talented.  He took the time to share his kindness and talents with everyone he knew.  

He and Mom were lucky to have found each other and they had the strength to always love each other, to build a wonderful family and to surround themselves with many wonderful friends.  They shared their patience and love with us all!

All my love to you Mom!   We will carry on and make Dad proud!


Uncle Chuck was very quiet most of the time I remember.  He was always working at the Liquor store, in the basement in Brighton, driving the boat or on the lawn mower.  I do have great appreciation and respect for the way he took care of my Aunt Cindy and all of their kids.  My Grandfather now has to share his award for being one of the last greatest men I have had the pleasure of growing up around and knowing.      

I also remember a lot of good times at Lake Powell and in Mexico for many years.  One thing I noticed was that I never heard Chuck speak ill of anyone, not even politicians!  He left a wonderful legacy of well-built homes, both here and in Hawaii.  He and his talents will be very missed.    

As I sit here and contemplate what to write, my mind is flooded with so many good memories. Dad was a builder, we all have many beautiful examples of his works in our homes to look at. His hands built with beauty, precision, and his works functioned perfectly. However, the works he built inside of me are what I cherish most. Dad modeled for me a work ethic, of doing it right no matter what it takes to get it done.

Kindness, I watched you Dad, I never heard an unkind word come out of your mouth about anyone. You modeled respect, self control, self discipline, and love. The best parts of my character you built by your example.

In ministry, I work with people who cannot relate to God, their Heavenly Father, because they never had an earthly Dad who modeled the “heart of the Father” to them. I did.

I am blessed because you are a great Dad. I thank God for you. I cherish what you built. You built a family with the same care, so innate in you. Your best work lives on in all of us. You are dearly loved and missed, but I will see “you” in them. What a life you built.

I remember a few trips out to the lake getting me prepared to go out to lake Powell with my uncle and my aunt and my cousins. I didn't take to water skiing as easily as my cousin's did. It took me a while. But there we were out at the lake and I almost get out of the water and then I'd let go... Here comes Chuck with the boat one more time looking down at me from the steering wheel and saying" ready to go one more time"? He always seem to be encouraging me and being extremely patient. This is a gift I'm still trying to master, thank God for my uncle Chuck, one of my fondest teachers... Sean Wight

I cherished my one-on-one dinners with Dad. A lot of times he’d tell stories I hadn’t heard before, mostly from when he was a young man: fishing trips in the mountains with Grandpa and friends, hiking to Hanging Lake and around Maroon Bells, dinners in Aspen before Aspen was big and the time Grandpa passed on buying land in Aspen because Grandpa didn’t like mountain property. He talked about driving to Marble CO, where huge chunks of marble had been abandoned in the river next to the road, and how quickly those chunks disappeared once the price of marble went up. Some nights he’d tell stories about driving back and forth to mechanic school in Detroit when he worked at the car dealership, a gal he dated out there, and speeding around in fast cars he owned. Other stories were about driving around Denver before there were roads, when he and Grandpa would cut through farmers’ fields to go watch the Cherry Creek dam being built, and the time a friend took him for a ride way out in the “boonies”, and he’d chuckle because it was probably close to where Tower Rd is now. He reminisced about going to downtown Denver, visiting stores, and seeing shows in theatres but never at night because Denver wasn’t safe at night. Those special dinners gave me a glimpse of Dad as a young man, in a different time, living a life filled with adventure.

Dad was a great man and a wonderful role model. He is loved by all of us and will continue to be missed deeply.

Uncle Chuck was someone that was always kind and knowledgeable. He was someone who caught every memory on camera and made sure we all had a disk to be able to view for every trip or vacation or party that we had. He was such a wonderful person to have met in this life. I will never forget how excited to show my son Gunner his squirrel friends out back. He will be deeply missed!

My mom and dad had driven to Colorado to visit Chuck and Cindy and us (Carol Lou and George in Silverthorne).







The first time I met Chuck was in Amsterdam, we were all headed to Basal, Switzerland. I found him to be a kind and thoughtful person.  He always had a good attitude and when we got back, he worked a little magic to make our pictures look perfect. 

When we went to Maui to see Chuck and Cindy, I found out just how kind and thoughtful he really is. He had a stray cat he fed and took care of. He had a border that was having a hard time paying his rent. Instead of evicting him, Chuck worked with him and even gave him odd jobs to do to earn rent money.  But the most amazing thing I saw him do, was take in a little woman he met at Burger King.  She seemed to be suffering from early stage dementia and had no relatives in Hawaii. When he and Cindy moved back to Colorado they brought her with them.  That is truly being kind and generous. We will miss Chuck

Dear Cindy and family,
I have so many fond memories of our families times together in Brighton in our younger days, Maui and even my visits back to Colorado more recently. I always looked up to Chuck as a strong male figure and a great father, since I grew up largely without one. I remember the many times he took us to the skating  rink and came out to yell at us when we were too loud at sleepovers on the trampoline. As I became adult, I learned about the many times that he helped my mom and my family with many things that were way above what most friends would do to make sure we were okay. I also remember his silly jokes and fun laugh!! 
I know this is a very challenging time for the whole family. Know you are loved and comforted by all of your friends and family.

Chuck was always very nice, fun Childhood memories, growing up with Polly, Wendy , Jenny and John, enjoyed spending time at Lake Powel with  all of them, and many fun times, Chuck and Cindy were always so loving, sad to hear of Chucks passing, will cherish the memories forever, sending my condolences, thoughts and prayers to Cindy, Polly, Wendy, Jenny and John.

Dear Cindy and family,

We are so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.  I have so many memories of hanging out at your house, visiting you in Hawaii, and traveling with you and your family on vacation to Mexico and Hawaii.  I remember when my mom made me go across the street 48 years ago  to meet the new neighbors and their little girl sitting  outside on the curb playing in the dirt. It was the start of a lifelong friendship.  Chuck will be deeply missed.
