Charles “Chuck” Roberts of Littleton, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 77. Chuck passed away due to heart failure and, just as he dealt with all experiences in life, Chuck managed his illness with strength, grace, and a light-hearted demeanor that was uniquely his. He spent his final days soaking up as much time with his loved ones as possible. Just as he lived, he spent his last days laughing, reminiscing, and enjoying the company of those that were closest to him. On his final day, he was surrounded by his children, who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Chuck was the 4th of 5 boys born to Charles “Babe” and Lois “Tutz” Roberts. It is impossible to know if his love of athletics or friendship came first but, lucky for Chuck, the two go hand-in-hand. He was a great athlete from a young age and arguably an even better friend and brother. He spent his early days causing mischief with his brothers and making his first of what would become life long friends. Later in life he joined the US Navy with his older brother, Don. Chuck was proud of his service to his country and always held admiration for those that did the same. Following his service to The Navy, Chuck worked various jobs until he finally found a career at what would become Lockheed Martin. While Chuck enjoyed his work at Lockheed Martin, he enjoyed the relationships that he formed with his colleagues even more. Just as in childhood, Chuck enjoyed competing in athletics (primarily fast-pitch softball) as an adult. Chuck was fortunate to be able to continue to build friendships from teams he played on as well as teams he went on to coach for many years after he was a competitor himself.
While Chuck was an amazing, brother, friend, athlete, sailor, and coach with a successful career, he was most proud of his titles of Dad and Papa. Being a loving and dependable father were of the utmost importance to Chuck and he certainly did not disappoint when it come to wholeheartedly loving his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his children John and Rebecca Oxford and Robin and Kiyoshi Hiraoka, Chuck is survived by his 3 grandchildren, Trevor and Jasmine Oxford and Kayden Hiraoka. Chuck is also survived by his 3 brothers, Jim Roberts, Don Roberts, and Jerry Roberts and 2 sisters-in-law Laura Roberts and Jonelle Roberts.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Dave Roberts and his sister-in-law Jane Roberts.
The funeral service for Charles “Chuck” Roberts” will be held at 12:00pm on October 14, 2021 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. Chuck will be given ceremonial honors by the US Navy at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 3:00pm. Catered reception to follow at Grant Ranch Village Center.
