On March 25th 2021, Carole Kettering Pringle passed away in Denver, Colorado at the age of 76. Carole is survived by her brother, Weston Jr. “Chip” (Karen) Kettering, her two children, Kim (Phil) Zichterman, and Dave (Britney Derosier) Pringle, 4 grandchildren; Michael, Molly, Eli, Duncan and 2 great grandchildren- Bella and Kace. Carole was a loving and endearing mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She adored her dogs, Brandi and Grace, who were her comfort and beloved companions in recent years.
Carole was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 8th 1944 to Wilma and Weston Kettering, and she had great love and admiration for her brothers Ron, Bob, and Chip. She attended Winchester Thurston and Denison University. She married her true love, David R Pringle on February 11, 1966. They eventually settled in Colorado, calling Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Colorado Springs and Parker home. She had recently moved to Broomfield. From her first days in Colorado, she became a die-hard Broncos fan. It was always a colorful experience to watch a game with her.
Carole had a true passion for gardening and cooking. She loved to plan family meals, bake pies for her neighbors and friends, decorate christmas cookies with her grandkids, and show her love through her cooking. She loved planting flowers and taking care of her garden. She always appreciated the springtime, the birds chirping, and the excitement of planting new flowers and seeing them bloom throughout the summer. As a master gardener, she loved trips to the Flower Bin and Tagawa, and was always so excited to get her garden and yard ready for the spring and summer. She loved seeing butterflies on her flowers, deer in her yard (unless they were eating her flowers), and baby bunnies under her porch.
Carole also had a calling for tutoring children, and became involved with various children’s literacy programs throughout her life. One of the highlights that strengthened her conviction were her trips to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation with her church. She was able to immerse herself in the Lakota Sioux culture and provide reading instruction to the children there. She spoke of these trips with great pride and reverence.
Carole appreciated travel; her two favorite places in the world, France and Maui, always held a special place in her heart. In addition to many enjoyable trips with her husband to Santa Fe, Scotland, England, and many tropical escapes, she was able to visit Maui with her 3 grandchildren, and took a special trip on a river cruise in France with her daughter Kim in 2017. Her son Dave accompanied her to Hawaii and Mexico, the beach being their favorite place to relax.
More than anything, Carole loved her family and friends. Her kindness and compassion were felt in every phone call, card, email, and voicemail. She was involved in her church community and stood strong in her faith. She was always a strong presence and cared for others. As her granddaughter-in-law Kristi observed, “She was a force. A force of nature; a force of love”. Her feisty spirit and strength will never be forgotten.
