Carol was born on March 8, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Grace and Ingvald Flaa. She was the youngest of eight and due to the loss of her mother at birth was also welcomed into the family of Isabel and Angus Pomeroy, gaining an additional two siblings.
She was married to Angus W. Pomeroy on October 8, 1960 in St. Paul, Minnesota residing at different times in St. Paul, Minnesota; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Littleton, Colorado and Aurora, Colorado.
Carol earned her degree in nursing in 1955 and served her communities as a nurse in various hospitals, in private duty care, in psychiatric care, and finally in an Albuquerque elementary school. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 1982 and retired from the profession in 1990.
Carol found her greatest joy in helping others. Her nursing background gave her the perfect platform to meet people’s physical needs as she also sought to touch their emotional and spiritual needs. Her desire to help others was never more apparent or fulfilling than when she worked with young students in the sunset of her career.
Carol was also an avid reader and spent her retirement years devouring many different authors. Her favorite topic was heaven – and the excitement of what was in store for her once her time here was complete. She looked forward to her heavenly home – being absent from the imperfect body that had been challenging and present with her Lord Jesus. Her family celebrates her Home-going and we know that she is now where she had longed to be.
Carol is survived by her husband, Angus W. Pomeroy; four children and six grandchildren. Scott Pomeroy and Janis of Castle Rock, CO and his children Paige King and Drew of Parker, CO, Amy Pomeroy and Rachel Pomeroy; Lorrie Calvert of Littleton, CO and her son Jacob; Debra Marquez and Scotland of Albuquerque, NM; Daniel Pomeroy and Beth of Louisville, KY and his children Chelsey Pomeroy and Kyle Pomeroy; one sister Shirley Flermoen of Yuma, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
