Bruce Neal Baker was reposed in the Lord on December 14, 2023, surrounded by his children after a short battle with lung cancer. Born in Denver, Colorado to Kenneth Robert and Virginia Margaret, Bruce was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stillborn daughter Lauren. He is survived by his three children, Manda, Brett, and Shannon, his sister Penelope, nieces Kimberly and Laurie, and several nieces and nephews from a previous marriage.
Bruce grew up with a strong faith and a love of animals, working in horse stables as a teen and holding onto ideas of one day becoming a Vet, a preacher, or a counselor. As he grew, he worked with animals, in filmmaking, and later owned a few businesses before moving on to working for the State of Colorado in the CDLE for the remainder of his life.
Bruce was first and foremost a family man. Nothing was more important to him than his family, and he loved fiercely. He adored his children and was sure to be at every game, meet, or choir concert his children participated in until the very end, even watching Manda’s choir concert virtually from his hospital room in his last week of life. He was a kind, gentle, and giving soul and found a friend in anyone. He was a provider and a protector and would give the shirt off his back or lend a hand in any way he could without needing anything more than a thank you! A Colorado Native (3rd generation at least) he loved nature and the outdoors, particularly gardening, fishing, bird watching, and driving in the mountains; taking a drive with his daughters every fall to see the changing leaves. He was fascinated with space and spent many evenings with his children watching meteor showers and eclipses of the moon, even driving out to the eastern plains to catch a glimpse of a comet. Music was a staple in his life, and he enjoyed playing Baritone in the marching band at Cherry Creek High School. His love of music ran deep and wide, and he appreciated music from almost every genre and culture, though was partial to any kind of drumming and Celtic music. He was as silly as he was serious and loved to laugh. He was a man of wisdom and imparted many important life lessons to his children, for which they will forever be grateful. He will be greatly missed by many!
A private burial will occur at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and a Public Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, December 28th, at 11:30a, at ASSUMPTION OF THE THEOTOKOS CATHEDRAL.
