Beverly Jean Lahey of Centennial Colorado passed away on Friday May 21, 2021. She was in the presence of her loving children - TJ, Shannon and Amanda.
She was diagnosed with Covid 19 induced pneumonia on April 9, 2021. Facing this with grace, courage, and dignity, she spent 42 days battling this implacable disease in the hospital. The family wishes to thank the entire team at Aurora Medical Center for their caring, professionalism and compassion throughout the process.
Jean was born in Dubuque, Iowa on July 2, 1943 and grew up in Findlay, Ohio. She was the only
daughter of Gregory and Irene Susko, both of whom predeceased her. She attended local schools in Findlay and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1964 with distinction, earning a B.A. in Psychology. She then went on to marry to her college sweetheart Timothy Michael Lahey (now former husband) on July 3, 1965, and they later had one son and two daughters.
She loved volunteering at various state social service agencies where she provided counselling services. She then moved to Centennial Colorado in 1981 with her family. She participated in a wide variety of entrepreneurial activates including many investment clubs and small business ventures. She also enjoyed staying home and raising her children until they each got to the high school level when she decided to work outside of the home. She landed an amazing job with Continental Airlines where she found her true passion, the love of travel. She brought back intricate and interesting items from the countries that she would travel. Her family and friends loved the treasures she returned home with; that is how she began her next journey in life as an avid import retail store owner. Jean spent over 20 years with her passion in her business “Borderline” on Denver’s oldest Historic shopping strip on Gaylord Street. She, family, friends and grandchildren spent a lot of time at her beautiful, whimsical and most definitely colorful shop. Everyone loved the fun and exciting merchandise that she would bring back from all of her many travels throughout the world.
Jean (Mom & Mimi) was a fun, loving, kindhearted, flamingo crazy, Elvis loving, young-spirited woman. But most importantly, the most fun, understanding and best mother that anyone could ever hope for. We are sorry to have you leave this earth so soon. You will be greatly missed. Until we meet again - We love you Momma.
Jean is proceeded by her son Timothy, her two daughters Shannon and Amanda, and grandchildren Tyler, Hunter and Tiffany.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 17, 2021 from 3-8 PM in the location of her daughter Amanda’s home. All are welcome.
