In her early life, Betty's family moved to Goodyear, Arizona, where her father was employed as a machinist with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Betty attended High School at Litchfield Park, where she met her future husband, Homer Lee Bruton. The couple married in 1948 before moving to Denver, where Homer obtained a Masters Degree from the University of Denver.
Betty attended St. Luke’s Nursing School, graduating in 1966. She worked for several hospitals in the Denver area and one in Pierre, South Dakota before beginning a long career with Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. Betty spent many years as an Intensive Care Nurse and served in Outpatient Surgery before retiring.
Betty and Homer loved to travel, taking more than one dozen cruises, and many trips by air and automobile. They literally traveled the world together. Betty and Homer were married for 66 wonderful years.
Betty was a 44 year resident of Cherry Hills Village before moving with her husband to St. Andrew's Village, Aurora, in 2012. After her husband's passing, Betty moved to the Inn at Greenwood Village in 2014.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne Serreyn (David) of Plymouth MN; son, Kenneth Lee (Penny) of Perry Park; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Bruton of Denver; sister, Nelda Lee Lair; sister-in-law, Joyce Bruton of Sun City, AZ; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her youngest son, Robert David, who passed away in a traffic accident.
