Alice Joan Hogan (née Van Schooneveld) finished her journey on earth, passing away on May 3, 2023, two days after her 93rd birthday. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
A lifelong resident of the Denver area, Alice was born on May 1, 1930, the youngest of Daniel and Johanna Van Schooneveld’s four children. After attending Denver Christian School and South High School, Alice married Kenneth Hogan in 1953 and the couple spent 45 years happily married before Kenneth’s untimely death in 1998. Alice will be fondly remembered for her love of card games, her passion for baking, and her ability to always care and give her all to whatever she was doing. A perfectionist who was always happy to help teach others, Alice imparted her wisdom to her four children, nine grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren. Generations from now, there will be families who will be using her recipes and techniques on delicious treats from cookies to buckeyes to banket.
Later in life, “Grandma Hogan” became a constant attendee to her grandchildren’s many events and made sure she would attend concerts, games, and whatever else her grandchildren were participating in. She was beloved by her grandchildren for always being present, whether at their activities or having her family over after church on Sundays for "coffee time".
Alice was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Johanna, her husband Kenneth and her sisters Anna and Wilhelmina. She is survived by her brother William, her sons Michael and Keith, her daughters Carla (Lenderink) and Trish (Muller), her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
