     Tick was always loved and adored by my grandmother, who he affectionately called Aunt Eve. His mother, Aunt Hilda, was visiting my grandmother and it just so happened that he decided to be born that 26th day in April 1927. 
     
     There was always a special bond between Tick, Aunt Eve and my mother, Anita, who was 5 years old when he was born.

     Over the years many memories were shared with me about the great times they had together at the shore. Whether they were fishing, crabbing, swimming or going up the Magothy River in my mother's canoe. Our family had an album and a big box of pictures to enhance all the stories.

     My first visit from Tick was when I was a newborn in a carriage. He was home on leave from the Navy sometime in December, 1945. When he was discharged from the Navy he met and married Joan. This was the first family wedding I attended. It was a special day I still remember as one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen. I still have the wedding invitation they sent to my grandparents.

     In later years, Tick kept in close contact contact with my family and occasionally would invite them to go for a Sunday ride down the old shore. They would stop at the house and look over the grounds where that had played as children and teenagers.

     As the years passed it was difficult for my grandmother to go out and about, so he would bring his projector and 8mm film for them too see Germany, Alaska and other places he and Joan has visited.

     After my grandmother and mother were gone, Tick would call me and we would talk for hours about how much fun our families had when we got together.

     We were very close because Tick was the last member of our family from that generation and we were all only children of our parents and grandparents.

I always enjoyed hearing Tick talk about the good old days.  He shared lots of stories about all the fun he had down the shore with his cousins, Anita, Earl and my dad, Warren.  

He also shared how he met his wife, Joan, who he truly adored.  

As sad as it is to see him go, I know he must be so happy to be with all of his loved ones again sharing stories about all of the good times he had with us.

I bought Tick a little jukebox that played Christmas songs many years ago. He told me how much he enjoyed it every time we talked.  It touched my heart hearing the joy in his voice.  

Our family was so blessed to have him for 94 years.  He's just one of those people who made life a little better when he was around.

I will always remember him with a smile.
