Ruby Crawl Higdon, a longtime resident of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away on October 1, 2017, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Avis Crawl, her husband, Robert G. Higdon, and her brother Robert E. Crawl. She is survived by her daughters Nancy L. Morgan (Dick), Vivian L. Seaman (John), and Margaret E. Stolzenberg (Mark); 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ruby was born in Indiana and later moved to Catonsville, MD where in 1945 she married her husband Bob, a WWII veteran. After raising her family, Ruby worked as a court reporter for Howard County Circuit Court. For 60 years she was an active member of West Baltimore United Methodist Church. Ruby was also a member of Catonsville Women’s Club and for many years was a volunteer at Spring Grove Hospital. In 2007 she moved to Charlestown Retirement Community where she enjoyed socializing with friends, water aerobics, attending church, reading, and knitting. Her family and friends will always remember her sweet nature and quiet strength, love and dedication to family, and her steady faith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday October 13 at 11am at Charlestown’s Our Lady of the Angels Chapel 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville. She will be buried alongside her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund, Charlestown Retirement Community.
