Mr. Milbourne,
     You will be missed.  You had one of those magnetic personalities that drew the attention of your students to get them engaged in your class. I remember getting my best grade in your class that year.  Prayers go out to your family.

By far my favorite, and most influential teacher (Biology and Photography). I loved my time with Mr. Milborne, he was hilarious while at the same time teaching you valuable life lessons.  He took a genuine interest in all of his students, not only from an academic point of view but also from the personal side.  I always knew he wanted to get the best out of me; not for himself but for me and my future, and I will always be grateful for that. I can't give any better compliment then he actually made school fun!  I always looked forward to Mr. Melbournes class. Keep in mind now it was Biology not Gym.  I love you Mr. Milbourne and I wish I would have had a chance to tell you but I have a feeling you already knew that.

I was also lucky to have Mr. Milbourne as my teacher at AJH and again at LHS.  He taught me everything I know about film photography and a lot about being a better person.  I worked for him staging Prom pictures for my fellow students and for many years even after I graduated in 1979.

Mr. Milbourne - you were my favorite teacher of all time.  I have thought of you countless times.  Thank you for your guidance, your kindness and your friendship.  I miss you already.

Les was an amazing colleague during our 10 years together as yearbook advisors at LHS.  He was always positive and energetic; always firm but fair with students. He helped me tremendously and we were such a fine team for so many years...until  1987 when I left LHS.
Les was certainly, as all have said, a special teacher --kind, caring, knowledgeable and funny....and  such a good man.  My condolences to his family.

The absolute best teacher at Arbutus Jr. High. You will forever be in my heart Mr. Milbourne! Thanks for being so inspiring.

It saddens me to hear the loss of such of a wonderful man. you're were not only a teacher, you were a friend too. I always looked forward to my DE class, he always had a way to make it fun. Always had a smile on his face and full of laughter. Rest in peace my friend, you are now in the hands of the lord, an angle who will always watch over us. My deepest condolences to the family.

One of the GREATEST teachers I EVER had !! Mr. Milbourne's family I am so sorry for your loss. He TRULY was a special person, that made you want to learn. I graduated 1986, but I have thought about him often. I hope I will be half the teacher he was.

My deepest sympathy to the Milbourne family.  Take comfort in the wonderful memories of Les and all the tributes written here by former students.  He obviously made a difference in many lives.  I am fortunate to have worked with him at LHS.

Deepest condolences to the Melbourne family.  Too soon gone, but he leaves a lasting legacy in those of us he touched through his teaching.  Many a fond memory with Mr. Melbourne back in the AJHS science and photography lab.  Go peacefully, kind sir.

I am so saddened to hear about this. Mr. Melbourne was my science teacher, yearbook teacher and drivers ed teacher all in the same year. He always made me laugh and treated all of his students with respect. I have so many fond memories of him. He was the best Lansdowne High School ever had. Rest in peace sir. You will be missed. Your students will keep you in their memories. I still remember a lot from Drivers Ed. Safe, peaceful journey Sir.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Milbourne's passing.  He was one of my favorite teachers at Lansdowne. I had him for Biology (1977), Photography and Driver's Ed (1979-80).  He was a one of a kind man, who never pulled his punches and told you where you stood with him.  I'm sorry I didn't keep up with him.  Prayers to his family.

Mr. Milbourne was an excellent teacher. He was knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor, and really cared about his students. I was in his photography and drivers ed classes in 1978 and still remember much of what I learned from him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.  (Matt 5:4)

I have encountered many teachers along my academic journey. Many have been forgotten. And, then, there is that rare, exceptional teacher, whose name always brings a smile to your face. Thank you Dear Educator, for sharing your wisdom and life lessons with me. You are, in every good way, unforgettable. May your family and friends be comforted by warm memories of times spent with you.

I remember him being in charge of the PYE (Protect Your Environment)  Club at Arbutus Junior High. I was a member, and on Earth Day, we were sent out into the neighborhood, to pick up trash and collect junk to add to a pile of junk on the parking lot, that was later hauled away. It was a different time, and kids would NEVER be allowed to walk around the neighborhood now. 
He was also a photographer and would say "The camera only takes what it sees", if you thought your picture looked bad.
Such a great teacher! RIP Mr. Milbourne.

I am so sorry for your families loss of Mr. Milbourne. Ironic that I was just just speaking about him with fond memories with Dr. Walker of Union Memorial in Baltimore and Bernice Walk from Arbutus Jr. High music department last Friday. He was a loved teacher in today's world.

I had Mr Milbourne as a science teacher at Arbutus Jr High in 1969-1970. For whatever reason he put things in a way I could understand. I considered him one of the best teachers I had in any school I attended. My condolences to the family. Please know he was a respected man and educator.

You will be missed.  I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Melbourne twice.  Once at Arbutus Junior and then Lansdowne.   Such a fun teacher and great sense of humor.

Mr. Milbourne was my science teacher in 9th grade; 1972, driver's ed teacher; 1974 and photography teacher in 1975. BEST teacher ever! He made learning interesting, maintain class control and taught "life" lessons. Favorite quote: "Mr. Coolahan, when all else fails....READ THE DIRECTIONS!" So glad our paths crossed!!

Thank you my friend for introducing me  to my lifelong love of photography. You were an awesome teacher and mentor that truly sparked my interest in becoming a shutter bug. I still have my box of prints, film and negatives from your classes.(labeled Photography I & II and Science of Photography 1990-1993)

I'm so sorry to hear the news.  Mr. Milbourne taught me biology and driver's ed.  He made learning fun.  He always had a bright smile and kind word to share as I passed him in the hallway.  I will never forget him.

We are sorry for your loss. Mr. Milbourne was instrumental in my growth from a teenager to a high school graduate. Drivers Education and Biology were memorable times with him as a teacher at LHS. He will be missed!
