Miss ya pal.  You were always there for me.
The "Watrous Wonder" as I called you.  Definitely one of a kind.  Taken too soon.  However as a Christian I know I will see ya again.  Hope you are smiling when ya read this Bill.

To the Lovato family,
It has been a year since Bill passed.  It is still hard to believe. You have all been in my prayers.

So many of my officer friends have passed this year and some like Bill were people who stayed healthy which makes it even sadder.

I love and believe in God and I believe he has a path for all of us.  I believe Bill is with God watching over all of you.

Years ago I was working the DUI team.  Bill was a K-9 Officer and at the time they wore a blue coverall type uniform. He brought in a suspected DUI.  The DUI was crying and said to me "please help me.  I have been kidnapped by a janitor with a mean dog".   Bill was very professional and compassionate to the man.
Later we had a good laugh.
Bill was a very good person and a true gentleman !

RIP "The Watrous Wonder" as I often called him. I will see ya down the road at roll call.  Safe Journey dear friend.

I worked with Bill in District 4.  He was simply “the best”.   He had a big impact on my life and will always be remembered as “my dad” 😀



I met Bill & Sandy a year ago after we purchased the adjacent  mountain property.  Both Bill and Sandy welcomed us as new neighbors. I enjoyed listening to Bill's stories and the one that will never leave my mind is when he met Ronald Reagan and how he was beaming as he told the story.  Bill and I had our last talk three days before he passed after he pulled up onto our property on his ATV.  I am still shaking my head in disbelief...my condolences to Sandy and the family.

As a young police officer in District Two, I could always depend on Bill and his dog to cover me on calls. Bill was a great police officer and taught me a lot. In retirement, I would see him taking his walks on the 16th street mall. He always stopped to talk to me. He was humble, a gentleman, and one of the nicest guys I’ve ever known. God Bless. 

Bill and I started our careers with the Denver Police Department together, being classmates in the Academy.  Though our assignments took seperate directions, I would see him frequently, and he always had a smile and hug.  He was a great cop and a true gentleman.  My condolences to the family, as Bill now sits among the angels.

I met Bill  my  first night on the street as a Denver Police Officer at roll call.  In 1974 women were not accepted by many officers.  After roll call Bill and a few other officers came up to me to offer their hands of support.  Our friendship continued well into retirement. Bill was always a friend and a mentor for me and  many officers.  He did his job well with professionalism, humor, and respect for the people he encountered.  I will miss my friend and pray for his family as they grieve for this sad loss of a husband, father, grandpa.

I was Bill's first training officer, we rode together on his first academy ride.  We remained friends during both of our Police careers.  I could tell after the first hour we rode together he would be an outstanding officer.   

Bill was a true gentleman and excellent dog handler...a valuable member of the Metro Swat Unit rest in peace my friend...

Mr. Lovato was a beautiful Soul, a mentor who showed what family & friendship should be like, he opened his home & gave us the keys to me and my family as if we were his own, he brought two beautiful sons in this world, I refer to as brothers, he will never be forgotten. Condolences to the entire Lovato family on the loss of their Iconic Father.

Bill was my dad’s partner on the Denver Police Department. My dad, Rick Stevenson, said Bill was the best brother he had on the job and loved to share all the memories he and bill made through the police department, especially the K-9’s. Bill gave me a placard at my dad’s funeral service that I will never get rid of. He was a great man, police officer and friend. Now that they are reunited in heaven, they can be partners again. 

Bill had an amazing heart and soul. My family loved him dearly, as I did. Deepest condolences to his family, all my love and respect sent.
