Jeannie’s funeral services will take place on Friday, July 28th at 12 noon at Saint Francis of Assisi Church followed by inurnment of her ashes at Cedar Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place that evening from 6pm - 8:30pm at The Grange in Castle Rock. IN JEANIE'S HONOR WE REQUEST THAT EVERYONE WEARS THEIR BRIGHTEST MOST FASHIONABLE COLORS AS WE CELEBRATE THIS ICONIC WOMAN. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Moises Gonzales, sons; Moises Gonzales Jr. and companion Susan Jamison, Patrick Gonzales and his wife Ada Gonzales along with grandsons; Jacob, Lucas, and Kory Gonzales.
She was born on June 18, 1943, in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Miguel and Maria Ojinaga. She was the only daughter among three brothers, which prepared her to be a mother of two sons and a grandmother of three grandsons. Jeannie also grew up with an amazing family of Tio’s, Tia’s, cousins and friends and created a lifetime of memories. After marrying Moises, they settled in Southern California where she would raise two boys and spend endless hours attending baseball, basketball, and USC football games. Additionally, she spent many years enjoying life in So Cal with family and lifelong friends. Jeannie received her Associates’ degree in transportation and had a successful and accomplished career for the Amoco Corportation. In 1996, they moved to Colorado where she would spend her time helping to raise her youngest grandson and turned into an avid Denver Broncos fan that enjoyed tailgating with many friends and family members. Jeannie enjoyed traveling to New Mexico, dancing, fashion, decorating, cooking and jewelry. She especially loved Native American jewelry. Family and friends would travel miles to enjoy her tacos and tamales and was affectionately nicknamed the “Tamale Boss”. She had an infectious laugh and was always ready to have fun. One of her greatest gifts was the love for her family and friends. She was generous and always placed the needs of her loved ones in front of her own. Jeannie was blessed with an unyielding faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and her faith provided her strength and bravery through her illness. Today and forever, she will be in our hearts and never forgotten; those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear. Until we are reunited again, we love you.
