Talon Chase Schwalm was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2024, at the age of 37. Talon was born to Rhonda and Mark Schwalm on March 7, 1987, in Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines. His childhood years in a military family took him across the globe, living in Florida, Texas, Virginia, and Japan, where he developed a love for sports and played Varsity Football and Basketball at Edgren High School in Misawa Air Base, Japan.
Talon went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Military Science. As a member of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Talon quickly rose to the rank of Cadet Wing Commander, demonstrating his strong leadership skills. Upon his graduation, he was proudly commissioned as a Second Lieutenant by his father.
In 2014, Talon married the love of his life, Rachel (Bogard), and together they built a beautiful family, blessed with two daughters, Sessily and Isla, who were the center of his world. Talon had an animated personality that could light up any room with his wit and banter. He had a natural ability to unite diverse individuals toward a common cause. His passion for people and skill to dive deep into discussions endeared him to many, creating friendships that lasted a lifetime. He had a lifelong love of basketball, enjoyed video gaming, and managed a Fantasy Football League for 19 years. Talon’s competitive spirit, humor, and dedication to his friends were evident in all these pursuits.
Talon is survived by his wife, Rachel Schwalm; his daughter Sessily Schwalm; and his daughter Isla Schwalm; his father Mark Schwalm; his mother Rhonda Schwalm; his mother-in-law Jo Bogard and his father-in-law Jack Bogard; his sister Cassidy Schwalm-Neubauer (Derek), his sister Logan Schwalm, his brother Mason Schwalm, his brother-in-law Ryan Kosanke (Tasha), his sister-in-law Jessica Bogard and his sister-in-law Rebecca Moore (Jesse); his grandfather Robert Dinhobl. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral service for Talon will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
Committal service will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
Celebration of life will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cheyenne Mountain VFW Post 3917, 4715 Clearview Dr,, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911.
