Rose Pilar Posey (Rosey Posey) of Elizabeth Colorado passed away on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 at the age of 80. She was born on March 5th, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas, where she grew up with 13 brothers and sisters. Rose was number 13 out of 14 children and the only one born in a hospital. She grew up in San Antonio until she was adopted by her older sister, Mariana Gonzalez, after her mother passed away in 1954.
Rose eventually traveled with Mariana and her husband, Joseph Gonzalez, to his next Army assignment at Fort Richardson Army Base, Alaska. It was there that Rose met her future husband, Robert (Rob) Posey, as he was stationed there at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, as a newly assigned Airman. Rob and Rose met through a co-worker of Rob’s who had children that Rose would regularly babysit. This first meeting was what initially caused Rob to be ‘smitten’ with Rose. Eventually, Rob was invited over to dinner with Rose, Mariana and Joe, and the tacos that Rose prepared completely ‘sealed the deal’ for Rob.
Rose and Rob were promptly married on October 10th, 1960, and over the following (short) 5-years, they had 4 wonderful children: Robert Jr., Marie, Kathy and Sharon. They then proceeded to raise and love their children through multiple Air Force assignments, which eventually landed them in Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio Texas, where Rob (with his dedicated partner Rose) retired from the Air Force. They then moved to Converse, Texas where Rob and Rose’s children eventually grew up and started their own lives as adults.
During that time in Converse, Texas, Rose expanded her primary role as devoted wife and mother, and excelled in multiple professional jobs/positions, to include a Loan Officer, a small business owner (cleaning services), and a certified Nurse’s Assistant. In every role she held (whether wife, mother, friend, business owner) she performed every task and responsibility as if ‘working for the Lord’. She truly exemplified excellence, integrity, and devotion in everything she was involved in.
All of Rose’s children eventually married, and she and Rob were blessed with 7 grandchildren and eventually, 16 great grandchildren. She was loved and cherished by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was lovelingly called ‘Waya’ by all of them. She lived a life dedicated to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren, and she will be missed. However, while her family grieves, they grieve with hope, knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that they will one day see…and embrace her…once again.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Pilar Vallejo and her father, Pedro Vallejo, and her siblings Clara Rodriguez, Consuelo Zaragosa, Mercedes (Teresa) Flores, Margarita (Infant) Vallejo, Damascus (MAC) Vallejo, Margaret (Maggie) De La O, Mariana Gonzales, Cecilio Salvador Vallejo, Bernardo (Benny) Vallejo, Richard (Infant) Vallejo, Juanita (Janie) Robinson, and Armando Vallejo.
Rose is survived by her husband, Robert Posey Senior, her son Robert Posey Junior and Robert’s daughter Jessica Posey and her children Miguel and Mila. Her daughter Marie Doonan (husband John), and their son Ryan Doonan (wife Janette) and their children Bryanna, Johnny and Tony. Her daughter Kathy Cervera (husband David), and their children Amanda Cervera and Eric Cervera, and Amanda’s children, Tyler and Audrey. Her daughter Sharon Egan (husband Greg), and their son Gregory Jr. (wife Nancy), and their children Jeremiah, Noah, Mari, and Emelia. Sharon’s daughter Gina (husband Thomas) and their children Lydia and Elizabeth. Sharon’s daughter Lynn (husband Francisco) and their children Sharon Rose, Joel, and Nathanael. Rose is also survived by her brother, Pedro Isidro (Pete) Vallejo and sister, Mary Esther Dufek. In total, Rose is survived by her loving husband, 4 children, 7 grand children, 16 great-grand children, and 2 siblings.
The family would like to thank the caring doctors and nursing staff at Century Saint Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado for their support to Rose during her final days. We truly appreciate their sincere and honest commitment to her care and comfort. We’d also like to thank all family and friends for their continual prayers for Rose’s healing and restoration. Please know…your prayers were fully answered, and Rose is now fully healed and restored, in the presence of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
Family and friends are invited to attend a ‘Celebration of Life’ service at Majestic View Church located at 620 Comanche Street, Kiowa, Colorado, 80117, on 10 December 2022 at 3:00 Mountain Time. Following the service a meal and refreshements will be served in the fellowship hall.
