For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
- Helen Keller
Peggy Beverly Reed, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 with her husband and daughter by her side.
Born February 26, 1946 in Roderfield, West Virginia to Bernie and Lillian Beverly; Peggy spent her formative years in Williamson, WV alongside her sisters, Charlotte and Kathy, and brother, Benjamin. She married her husband, Duffy Reed, also of Williamson, on December 28, 1969. Shortly thereafter she and Duffy moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where they spent the 1970s before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where their daughter was born. They returned to Colorado in the early ‘90s and have lived there since. The two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.
A great lover of the arts and design, Peggy began her career working at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in the 1970s and eventually became a small business owner and interior designer. Her love for the arts never dwindled, and over the years she amassed an impressive art collection. She was also an avid gardener and, in her youth, a passionate tennis player.
Peggy was preceded in death by her sister Charlotte, mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Duffy Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Jordan Reed and Jed Brock; granddaughter, Amélie Brock; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Mike Birkelbach; brother, Benjamin Beverly; and nieces and nephews, Chantel Brooks, Michael Brooks, Brandon Beverly, Ryan Birkelbach and Paige Downer.
Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the family plans to hold a celebration of Peggy’s life in the late spring or early summer at Duffy and Peggy’s home in Castle Rock, Colorado. Arrangements for the celebration are forthcoming.
