Pat was born in Salida, Colorado to Mort and Evelyn Reynolds. Pat is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of 56 years, two sons Shane (Casi) of Castle Rock, CO, Terry (Rowan) of Hershey, Nebraska, two sisters Alice Bryan (Dick) of Peyton, CO, Lynn Niehus (Frank) of Elbert, CO, four grandsons, Skyler (Jadyn), Cade (Kim), Taron (Kayla), Braden (Gracy) and a great grandson Ronin, all of Castle Rock, Colorado.
On October 18, 1966 he married the love of his life, Kathy Hankison. After marriage, Pat went to Colorado Aerotech to become an aircraft mechanic. Pat and his Dad, Mort, owned the Littleton Airport in Sedalia, Colorado from 1975 to 1981. He enjoyed working on and painting planes. Their kids and grandkids have fond memories of being at the airport. The airport is now gone, but Reynolds Industrial Park and Reynolds Drive still remain.
From the time he was a little boy on the eastern plains, he had dreams of being a rancher and a cowboy. Almost all play was centered around pretending to ride horses and run free. He belonged to 4-H for many years showing both sheep and cattle. He moved with his parents and sisters to the Castle Rock area in 1961. Pat graduated from Douglas County High School in 1966. He remained a resident of Douglas County for nearly all of the rest of his life, most spent in Cherry Valley. He worked many jobs over the years always using his hands and his mind to solve problems and build things. If it was broke, he could fix it and if a problem needed solving, he could solve it.
Pat was a man of many talents. As a rancher he raised Appaloosa horses, and showed halter and roping horses. He was a member of the Douglas County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for many years. In 2005 he won the Colorado Sheriff’s Posse All Around Champion Buckle. He was very proud of that accomplishment!
Pat was active for 12 years and President of LBYA (Little Britches Youth Association). He loved coaching youth the technique of roping and even inviting them to his ranch to practice with him! There are a lot of kids that would not be great ropers today had it not been for Pat’s teachings.
Pat loved his family! Although it was hard for him to express that, he showed it by being a hardworking provider and always showing up to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed rodeoing and roping with his son Terry and spending time camping and riding ATV’s with Kathy and his son Shane and his family. Pat always made time to visit with friends and neighbors, woodworking, and inventing things. He was a true “McGyver”! And let’s not forget that mustache…there will never be another one like it!!
Pat left an impact on many of us …sometimes it was coaching or teaching, sharing his knowledge, his quick wit, being a father, grandfather, great grandfather and a father figure to many. His presence will be greatly missed! He is what legends are made of and the true definition of an All-American Cowboy!
