Opal was born in 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri, and lived there with her sister and parents until 1957. She then moved to Colorado and settled in Colorado Springs. It was there that she first met her future husband Asa Clark while working in the office of People's Natural Gas. They married on August 26, 1964, and made their home in Burlington Colorado. In 1976, Opal and Asa had a daughter named Amy Clark. The couple continued working for People's Natural Gas until they had the chance to relocate closer to Castle Rock in 1974, where Asa pursued his work installing gas lines and welding.
In 1978, Opal began working for the Elizabeth School District, initially handling attendance. She was later offered the position of Food Service Director, which she gladly accepted. In 1992, Opal was honored with the Columbine Award for Excellence in School Food Service, an achievement she was incredibly proud of. Even after Asa passed away in 2002, Opal remained dedicated to her work in the Food Service until her retirement in 2007. Following retirement, she embraced travel, embarking on numerous adventures with friends and family. Opal also remained an active member of the Elizabeth community, enjoying spoiling her grandkids and even meeting her great-granddaughter. Opal brought joy, energy and presence wherever she went, often adorned in bold jewelry and bright outfits.
Opal is survived by her daughter Amy: son-in-law Dan: step-daughter Pam Turner: step-son Donnie Turner; grandchildren: Alyssa and spouse Kaden, Caleb, Shandy and spouse Krysten, Shannatay and spouse Chris, Skyler, Kiyah; step-grandchildren: Angela Asunción and spouse Junwin, Nicole Tenenini, Ashley Wnycoop and spouse Jamal; great-grandchildren: Brinlee, Ashtyn, Beckett, Alessi, Dextin, and Arya.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband Asa Andrew Clark; her father William Taff; her mother Maude Evans Taff and her sister Peggy Heath.
Opal will be laid to rest with her husband, Asa, in Spring Valley Cemetery, 13944 S Spring Valley Rd,, Larkspur, Colorado 80118.
