Mary Lou McCorkle (Jordan) was born in Rushville, Indiana, on June 29, 1933, to Chester & Ruth Jordan. She had one brother, Robert (deceased). She was raised in Rushville and lived in many places throughout her life, including Arizona, Minnesota, South Dakota, Georgia, Florida, and Colorado. Mary Lou passed on June 20, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, ending with a rapid but peaceful decline.
At 85 years old, Mary Lou had lived a full life. She had 5 children – Lynn (70), Greg (68), Carol (deceased), Steve (60) and Debbie (55); 14 grandchildren and almost as many great grandchildren. Mary Lou worked for most of her life as a realtor, earlier in the clothing industry operating small dress shops, and later, she and her husband, Norman, bought, sold, and collected antique glass and other household antiques. They spent much of their time traveling around the Midwest and Florida in their motorhome to antique shows. Based in Florida, they loved to play golf and spent a lot of their early years on the water, as Norman was an avid fisherman. They enjoyed social time with friends and loved to play cards. Mary Lou had been married and divorced, and after moving back to Indiana to be near her mother in 1987, reconnected with Norman McCorkle (they had dated in high school), and they married in May 1989. She fondly referred to Norman as the “love of her life.” They spent many happy years together enjoying retirement until Norman passed away in 2005. She always said that she “missed him every day.” Mary Lou spent her last 5 years in Colorado near her children.
Mary Lou chose to be cremated. A memorial service to honor her will be held later this summer. She had many long-time friends she held very dear, from her home town and around the country. We are grateful for your shared memories.
