It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Fern Meine, 58, of Castle Rock, Colorado on March 14, 2025, from complications of pancreatic cancer. A faithful fighter until the very end, she passed away surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 5, 1966 in Fort Collins, Colorado, and spent her childhood there. Kathleen briefly attended Colorado School of Mines, where she met her future husband, Tom.
Kathleen spent many years raising and homeschooling her children. A lifelong lover of travel, Kathleen worked for United Airlines in customer service for almost 24 years.
She was passionate about her family and making others feel like family. She loved thrifting and collected cookbooks. Kathleen showed love to everyone she knew by sharing homemade meals and baked goods. She frequently opened her home to anyone who needed food, a place to stay, a prayer, a friend, or a mom.
She is survived by her parents, Edwin and Winona Hanson; her older sisters, Sherri, Bonnie, and Laurie; her husband of 36 years, Thomas; her children, Rachel, Sarah, and Timothy; and her grandson Westley. She is also survived by countless extended family members and friends.
A memorial open house luncheon will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM at her family home at 1158 N. Calhan Ave., Castle Rock, CO 80104. To honor Kathleen’s enduring hospitality and legacy, we encourage all visitors during this time to come and go as you please. Refreshments and light fare will be provided. We also invite all visitors to wear a splash of purple, her favorite color, to celebrate the resilience and joy throughout her life that Kathleen shared so freely with others.
