Jerry was born on March 15, 1932 in Stratford Ok. He was the eldest of five boys.
In 1950, after graduating high school, Jerry enlisted in the US Army. He became an Army Ranger in the 10th Airborne Company. Jerry was deployed to Japan with the 187th division and was assigned to instruct his fellow service men in Judo and Boxing and earned his Judo Black Belt.
Jerry worked as an electrical contractor in the Denver area. He owned and operated Run-Nel Electric successfully for 35 years.
He moved to an acreage in Broomfield Colorado, where he raised four children. Here he was able to pursue his passion for horses, breeding and racing Quarter Horses. He enjoyed his ties to Stratford Oklahoma where he owned a peach orchard.
He met his wife Beverly in the mid-80s. They were married in 1991. Over the 36 years Beverly and Jerry were together they raised a daughter, ran businesses and pursued their passion for Thoroughbred horse racing. This passion for racing eventually evolved into a business, where they formed their best memories and developed many long-lasting friendships.
Jerry will be remembered as the man who never met a stranger. He never looked back but remained focused on the future. His gregarious personality was contagious. He was the life of the party and didn’t hold back in any way.
Jerry’s colorful life included an affinity for keeping fit, riding horses, cars and motorcycles, playing cards and chess, golfing, animals of all sorts (even a lion won in a poker game), and his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Beverly. His children Robin Tichy (Rob), Jon Slaughter, Dori Garin (Marc), and Minda Carmann (Troy). Grandchildren, Rebecca, Raelene, Mitchell, Cole, Amanda, Jeremy, Grant and Weston. Great Grand Children, Mikaela, Mariah, Cameron, Kennedy, Braxton, and Sam and Great Great Grand Child, Eden.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Sophia Cline, and Stepfather Choc Cline, Father Arthur Slaughter and Brothers Sam, Robert, Rick and Stepson Patrick Slaughter.
Jerry will be laid to rest at Seven Stones, a botanical cemetery, in Littleton Colorado.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
