Edward grew up in Overlea, MD and graduated from Towson University in 1969 with his Bachelor's Degree. He later went on to receive his Master's Degree in Education from Loyola University. During these years he independently camped cross-country, and explored parts of Europe, meeting many interesting characters. He was a english teacher primarily for Parkville Middle School in Maryland. He was adored by many of his students and was in charge of the stage crew and coordinating the talent show. He had a passion for drama and the arts.
He was a creative, clever, and often spoke in the language of sarcasm. He marched to the beat of his own drum. He adored his dogs, and when he was younger he enjoyed boating the beach,, technology, and exploring innovative ideas. Edward lived his life by the motto "Carpe Diem" which could explain his strong-willed, spontaneous nature. In 2009 he relocated to Colorado to spend the remainder of his retirement. He was passionate about working in his garden, his DIY projects and photography.
Edward is preceded in death by his brother Charles "Buddy" Rist and nephew Charles Rist III.
He is survived by his daughter Christine Rist; granddaughter Zaria Rist; siblings: John Rist, MIchael Rist and his wife Millie, Bonnie Alexander and her husband Larry; niece Lynn Kuhn, nephew Jeffrey Rist and his significant other Christine Martin, and great niece Jade Rist.
