David was born on the Ides of March in Wisconsin, and then moved to North Chicago, Illinois, where he lived with his father Bob, mother Grace, and three sisters, Ann, Mary and Colleen.
Dave was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he received his Bachelors in History, and his Master's in Education. He attended SIU on a full Football scholarship, and he played Football all four years, and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Go Salukis!
While at SIU, Dave met the love of his life, Linda. After both teaching in Illinois for three years, together they moved to Colorado, where he continued to teach and coach. He spent close to 40 years in Jefferson County Schools, teaching at Alameda High School and Chatfield Senior High, and coached Footballl, Basketball, Track and Cross County. One of his teaching highlights was spending 6 weeks in China teaching English to Chinese college students.
Dave and Linda raised 2 children together, daughter Rebecca and son Mathew. He was so proud of his kids. Since moving to Colorado in 1969, they have lived in Littleton, Highlands Ranch, and Castle Rock.
Dave was a lifelong athlete, he loved to Ski and run, and ran the Bolder Boulder for many years.
He was a proud Dog Dad, having 8 Samoyeds over the years: Rocky, Snowflake, Jade, Glacier, Polarbear, Finnigan, Mountains and Zora.
Dave loved to read, listen to music, watch the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Arizona Wildcats and Colorado State Rams.
He also loved a perfect Manhattan, so please raise a glass in his honor.
