Charlie Stone, 66, of Sedalia, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2013. Charlie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 27, 1946 to Jay & Iva Barbee Stone. He touched so many lives with his spirit and his desire to live life to the fullest extent that many of us will never experience in one single life-time.
Charlie worked as a sporting goods manufacturer’s representative for nearly 40 years and was an avid sports man and outdoorsman. He was an early pioneer of bass tournament fishing in Texas where he won multiple team state championships. Charlie was an inductee of the Texas State Bass Tournament Hall of Fame.
Charlie spent the last several decades of his life living in Colorado where he fell in love with his wife, Cathy. Charlie really enjoyed being in the mountains and spending his vacation time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his family and friends. Charlie loved music and would never miss an opportunity to cut loose to a good song. He made friends everywhere that he went.
Charlie was survived by his wife, Cathy Stone of Sedalia, Colorado - Son, Brian & Shelli Stone of Argyle, Texas- Daughter, Kelli & Michael Gooch of Wylie, Texas - Son, Eric and Laci Stone of Bay- field, Colorado – Daughter, Carrie & Bruce Thompson of Sedalia, CO. Charlie was pre- ceded in death by his youngest son, Brandon Stone of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Grandchildren Kristen Gooch (15), Morgan Stone (11), Mason Gooch (10), Andrew Stone (9), Hanna Thompson (7), Ella Stone (6mo) - they will all miss their Papa Charlie.
Per Charlie’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. His wish was to have his ashes spread over Land’s End in Cabo San Lucas. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make donations to American Cancer Society or the West Douglas County Fire Department in Sedalia, CO in Charlie’s memory.
