Birdie was born on May 13, 1929 in Athol, Kansas. She had 8 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Effie Railsback; her husband Harold W. Baumert; her sisters June E. Slagle and Audrey A. Crutcher and brothers Jasper E. Railsback, Warren L. Railsback, Samuel J. Railsback, and Donald J. Railsback.
She is survived by her brothers Francis E. Railsback and Walter D. Railsback; her daughters Cheryl Van Matre (Gary), Candis Birch (Bob), Laurel Shelley, and her son, Durand Baumert; her grandchildren Calyn Crow, Josh Shelley, Ted Noe (Rachel), Heather Crow, Sarah Langan (John) and Erin Shelley (Jamie); and Great Grandchildren Bryce and Dalton Noe, who she called “my boys”.
Birdie lived in Colorado almost all of her life. She was a full time mother and a wonderful homemaker and was very involved with helping Harold at the ranch in Kiowa. She was musically talented and encouraged her children in that direction. She was very involved with her children in their school activities. She also was an avid reader. She was always interested in reading historical books about wars, especially WWI, WWII and the Korean War since so many of her family members were in the military. She loved her sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home in Castle Rock, Colorado. Lunch will follow the service at the funeral home and inurnment will be at the Elizabeth Cemetery.
