Betty Anderson was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, sister-in-law, and the most favorite title of all, grandmother. She left us all to be with others who have passed on and most importantly to be with the love of her life and partner of 47 years in marriage Dutch, who left us in 2005.
Betty, who was always referred to as mom by many and not just her own children, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 21st, 2024, at the Brookside Inn nursing home in Castle Rock, CO.
Mom was born in 1940, in Westcliffe, Colorado to Francis (Meme) and Dallas (Posie) Gariner. Mom was raised with 3 brothers, Gene and Bob who have preceded her in death and Frank, the youngster of the bunch, who resides in Limon, Colorado.
Mom loved family and socializing. She was a founding member of the Franktown Bunco Club where she continued to play for 45 years. She loved games and was active in bowling for many years and in her later years, she was unstoppable at her favorite game Bingo.
Mom loved and cared for everyone that ever came to her home. She always had an open ear and was willing to listen. We would all sit at that well-used kitchen table where we were all welcome and never left hungry (if you did, it was your own fault!). She gladly insisted on feeding anyone that came by, rather hungry or not. Mom was an amazing cook, which she was well known for and practiced from a young age. Since Meme worked as a cook for many years, a lot of the family cooking and care was taken on by mom.
Active as homemaker and ranch wife, mom loved working and caring for a beautiful yard and garden that she and Dutch spent many hours at a time working on. Her talent for cooking and her green thumb was not the end of her talents. When evening came, she would find a comfy chair or her seat at the kitchen table and start tying knots, as Dutch would say. She had an amazing talent for knitting and crocheting which included many award-winning doll and Afghan creations.
Betty is survived by her sons; Dennie Anderson (Laurie); Dale/Dink Anderson (Kristi); Grandchildren; Ladd Anderson; Bobbie (Mike) Pruitt; Amber (Thomas) Francis; Cole (Melissa) Ernst; Heather (Daniel) Thornton; Hope (Pete) Batterton; Seth Anderson; along with a passel of great
grandchildren!
