Saturday, August 10, 2019, after bravely battling multiple illnesses. Bernie was born to Stella and Bernard on September 8, 1931 and was joined by his brother, Daniel to complete the family.
Bernie lived his life in the Chicago area, attending Weber High School and training to become a lithographer. He was proud of working his way up to the position of foreman and the fact that he was a life-long Chicago Graphic Arts Union member. Bernie enjoyed a good cigar, poker, cribbage, Chicago sports, pierogies, and telling jokes and stories from his past.
Bernie and Mary Schembari married September 3, 1955 and Diane and Michael were the loving results of their union. A few years after Mary’s passing, Bernie married Harriet Cosmer and they enjoyed many years together. Upon Harriet’s death, Bernie moved to Denver and spent his remaining time basking in the love and caring hands of Diane and Dave.
Bernie is survived by his daughter Diane (David) Terrien, son Michael (Siobhan) Koelsch; grandchildren, John Terrien, Shannon, Connor and Quinn Koelsch, several stepchildren and step-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard and mother, Stella, brother Daniel, Mary Koelsch and Harriet Koelsch.
Bernie-father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend-will be missed by all…
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude’s Children Cancer Hospital or the American Heart Association.
