Tony was born April 10, 1957, the youngest child of Hugh and Marjorie Ward in Grand Island, NE. He spent his early years in Grand Island, moving to Omaha as a teenager. He graduated from Ryan High School in 1975. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Tony’s entrepreneurial spirit began at 12 years old with a newspaper route in Grand Island which led to a successful career as a paint and design contractor, most notably with Sunshine Painting, Ward Painting and Decorating Inc. and Award Decor. Later in his career he transitioned to commercial/home window and door sales, including Marvin Windows of Canada. Tony’s career accomplishments were due to his intuitive creativity, tenacity, and his true, genuine love of people. He did not know a stranger.
Tony always lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. He loved gardening, traveling, deep sea fishing, grilling, acting in community theater productions and of course, Husker football games! Tony and Cindie traveled the world and especially loved the Hawaiian Islands.
Tony took tremendous pride in his boys. He had an impressive number of lifelong friends. In true “Tony time” he left this world too soon. Tony will be deeply missed and remembered for his engaging smile, tremendous energy and unlimited love for life, family and friends.
He was preceded in passing by his mother, father and sister, Kathy Fielder.
Tony is survived by his wife, Cindie Ward; sons Andrew (Marissa) Ward, Aaron (Rachel) Ward, and Clayton Ward ; stepson Jeffrey (Melissa) Schwab, grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Clem (Jan) Ward, Greg Ward, Ann (Jerry) Swiatoviak and Patrick (Bette) Ward.
