Walt Dunn

May 11, 1948 – November 13, 2015

Walt Dunn of Morrisville, North Carolina passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Friday, November 13, 2015. Walt grew up on a farm in Albion, Iowa and graduated from Marshalltown High School. He attended Iowa State University where he double-majored in Industrial Engineering and Accounting. Walt’s hard work and drive led him to many careers throughout his lifetime. From working at a lumber yard throughout school, to becoming a Schlotzsky’s Deli restaurant owner and Allstate agent, Walt excelled in every field he took on. He was also devoted to not only his career, but living life to the fullest and spending time with friends and family around him. Some interests included traveling the world to destinations such as China, Switzerland, Alaska, Mexico and more, cheering on daughter and granddaughters at soccer games, and college and professional sports.

Walt was a devoted family man: a wonderful husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sally, daughter Emily, sons Chad and Chris, mother Shirley, sister Renae, grandchildren Caley, Lilly, Andrew, Olivia and Michael.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 S. Hughes Street, Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary, NC 27519.
