Tonya Marie Arndt, age 20, passed away on May 28, 2024 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Affectionately known as “Tania” or “TT”; she was born on September 12, 2003 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is lovingly remembered by her parents: Steven A. Arndt and Maria Melo Arndt, of Apex, North Carolina.
Tonya spent the first ten years of her life in Neenah, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed dancing, swimming, soccer, and ice skating. She was a very creative person, and excelled at arts and crafts, particularly painting and pottery. She also loved to sing.
In March of 2014, she moved with her family to Apex, North Carolina, where she attended West Lake Middle School. Later, she attended Auldern Academy, a private boarding school located in Siler City, North Carolina. Tonya was an adopted child, and one year, as a Christmas present, she was given a 23 and Me DNA test kit. After submitting a sample of her DNA, she learned she was 25% Menominee Indian. She was very proud of her native American heritage.
Tonya was a bright, cheerful, kind and caring person. As a young adult, she loved all things related to Hello Kitty and had collected a huge assortment of stuffed animals.
A Gathering Time of Celebrate Tania's Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Brown Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Immediately following, there will be a reception held at Bocci Trattoria & Pizzeria in Lochmere Pavilion.
